Redesign and implementation of a permanent exhibition in the cultural heritage site, Ottobeuren Monastery Museum

“Search for God – Living for God”

The Ottobeuren Monastery Museum is both an important testimony to architectural history and a site of active monastic life. The baroque rooms are staged as objects with a powerful aura and serve as the starting point for the redesigned permanent exhibition. Our design approach, guided by the theme “Seeking God – Living for God,” highlights moments of individual and collective experience and understanding – between contemplation and interaction, epiphany and discovery. Everyday monastic life and the monks’ alternative way of living are conveyed through interactive elements and atmospheric spaces. The exhibition design enables visitors of all ages and backgrounds, especially children and young people, to gain a deeper understanding of this world.
