Exhibition Design in Berlin, Deutsches Technikmuseum, ‘Railways: Revolution and Everyday Life’
Technology Transforms Society

The redesigned permanent exhibition "Railways: Revolution and Everyday Life" at the German Museum of Technology (Deutsches Technikmuseum) Berlin offers a fascinating journey through the history of rail transport. Covering 1,700 square metres in the museum’s historic locomotive shed, the design explores the evolution of the railway up to 1914. Large-scale images, interactive media stations and themed exhibit islands create an immersive experience. Duncan McCauley’s staging places historical locomotives and carriages in striking scenes to convey the railway’s profound influence on society and everyday life. The barrier-free design ensures access to the history of mobility for all visitors.
