Immersive Audio-Video-Experience in the Münsterland, Burg Vischering, Lüdinghausen

Immerse yourself in the vanished world of Westphalian nobility

Upon entering the great hall of Vischering Castle – a moated medieval fortress in Westphalia – a captivating installation unfolds: historical wall frescoes come to life through dreamlike film projections. Duncan McCauley has created a film installation that immerses visitors in the world of Westphalian nobility around 1750. Scenes of hunting, dining and dancing merge with fragments of mural painting into a marvellous allegory. The projections are synchronised with chandeliers and a central banquet arrangement of hand-blown table ornaments, while the layered sound design creates a stirring atmosphere. Finally, the original frescoes return to focus – now seen in a new light.
