January 2018: Duncan McCauley has won the competition to plan the new permanent exhibition in the Municipal Museum in Lindau at Lake Constance in Bavaria, South Germany.
We are looking forward to exploring the history of Lindau and creating a fantastic visitor-experience!
November 2018: In collaboration with Graphic Design Office Polyform, Duncan McCauley completed the realisation of an innovative new information system for the Akademie der Künste (Academy of Arts) in Berlin. Through minimal yet effective alterations to the existing building, the new information system elevates and improves visitor orientation as well as the focus and prominence of the Academy on the Pariser Platz in Berlin.
April 2018: To celebrate the reopening of the Markgräfliches Opernhaus Bayreuth, Duncan McCauley was tasked to produce an animated film installation. The installation allows visitors to image themselves in the past during their visit to this UNESCO World Heritage site.
February 2018: Burg Vischering - Vischering Castle is open once again, 18 months after closing its gates for extensive renovations!
Visitors are invited to come see the new permanent exhibition in the Castle as one of the Regional Projects “WasserBurgenWelt” - The World of Moated Castles.
In collaboration with the Research Centre for Museum and Galleries at the University of Leicester and the National Trust, Duncan McCauley is developing a visitor experience based on the themes of isolation and loneliness at Calke Abbey in Derbyshire (UK). The project aims at finding innovative ways of immersing the visitor in the authentic spirit of the place. We are looking forward to creating a unique experience at this stately home!
Duncan McCauley won the invited competition for the permanent exhibition at Stralsund Museum, one of the largest and most comprehensive collections on archaeology and cultural history in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. Our concept treats the former Dominican Monastery Saint Catharine as an exhibit in its own right, thus achieving a close integration of monastery and collections.
Guided by our experience with industrial heritage sites, our respectful treatment of the listed water tower complex prevailed in the international architectural competition. Our concept for the museum's new entrance hall preserves the integrity of the existing industrial spaces and machinery and compliments these with a dynamic new circulation route for visitors.
